What is the Reflections Program? I have heard of it, but don't know much about it.
The PTA Reflections Program is an opportunity for students to express their artistic talents. Does your child like to write, draw, dance or take pictures? Then this is a perfect opportunity for them to show their creative side. This year's theme is "I MATTER BECAUSE".
Use your imagination to create something related to the theme in one of the following six categories:
Literature – Fiction or nonfiction, prose, poetry, drama, or short story (must not exceed 2,000 words or 8 ½ x 11 inches)
Visual Arts – Original print, drawing, painting, collage, photographic collage, metal etching or punch work, fiber work, or computer-generated artwork (must be flat, not more than 3/8 inches thick, maximum size 24 x 30 inches including a mat)
Photography – Presentation: Framed photos are not accepted. Matting is accepted. Entry must not be smaller than 3”X5” and no larger than 8”X10”. Print must be mounted on sturdy material such as cardboard or poster board not to exceed 11”x14” inches, including matting.
Musical Composition –Voice, instruments or a combination of both, with or without lyrics (maximum time 5 minutes, a CD recording of a
performance of the composition should be submitted.) maximum file size of 1 GB, USB drive acceptable, audio only
Dance Choreography – Original dance choreographed by the student with up to 3 dancers. (maximum time 3 minutes, should be submitted on a CD or DVD)
Film Production – Original work, animation, narrative, documentary, experimental, computer-generated (no PowerPoint, maximum time 5
minutes, CD or DVD). Maximum file size 1 GB, USB acceptable
Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Musical Composition, Photography, or Visual Arts. USB is also acceptable
You can enter as many times as you wish.
The national program has encouraged millions of students since 1969 to express themselves by recognizing their artistic efforts. Entries are given the opportunity to be submitted to council, state and national levels for award consideration.
